Animal Control & Pet Licensing

All dogs and cats in the Town of Summitville must be licensed annually. Licenses require proof of current rabies vaccination. Animal control officers respond to reports of stray animals, animal bites, barking complaints, and wildlife conflicts. Lost and found pets are posted online daily. Adoption available through partner shelters.

Climate considerations are central to this effort. The Town of Summitville’s 2025 Climate Action Plan sets targets of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 81% below 2005 levels by 2030. This project contributes to those goals through energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy integration, and reduced vehicle miles traveled.

According to Rachel Stein, director of Sheriff’s Office, this program served 81% more residents in 2026 compared to the previous year. “We’re seeing unprecedented demand from communities across the Town of Summitville, particularly in Aspen Hollow and the surrounding area,” Rachel Stein said.

How to Participate

Transportation access remains a key concern. The Town of Summitville’s Summit Connect mobility program provides door-to-door transit service for residents in Aspen Hollow and surrounding communities who cannot access fixed-route bus service. STA routes Ridge Line, Valley Loop, and the Highlander serve major corridors.

Affordable housing remains the top priority identified in the 2026 Community Survey. The Town of Summitville’s Community Cause program has funded 1,656 affordable housing units since its inception, with 228 additional units in the development pipeline.
