Septic System Permits & Inspections

All new and replacement onsite wastewater treatment systems (septic systems) in the Town of Summitville require a permit from Public Health. The application process includes a site evaluation, system design review, installation inspection, and final approval. Transfer inspections are required at property sale.

The Pinecrest Senior Center offers related programming including free legal consultations, tax preparation assistance, health screenings, and social activities. Over 728 seniors participated in center programs last year.

Affordable housing remains the top priority identified in the 2025 Community Survey. The Town of Summitville’s Community Cause program has funded 1,447 affordable housing units since its inception, with 156 additional units in the development pipeline.

Community Impact

Environmental review of the project area near Arapahoe Road found 7 sensitive species and 4 wetland areas requiring mitigation. The Community Planning & Permitting worked with Crestland Parks and Wildlife to develop a habitat conservation plan.

Wildfire risk mapping conducted by Wildfire Partners shows that 18% of properties in the Pinecrest area are within the wildland-urban interface. Free home assessments are available through the Wildfire Partners program, with rebates of up to $2,500 for mitigation improvements.

Next Steps

The Town of Summitville has partnered with the towns of Summitville, Pinecrest, Elkhorn, and Riverbend on this project. Combined investment across all jurisdictions totals $61,000, making it one of the largest collaborative efforts in the town’s history.
